Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar is the American and British sitar artist. She was the first woman of her generation to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging singer on Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha's career as a recorder and performer is remarkable, even at her young age. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has been doing so for many years. Her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has appeared at many important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to performing in music. In 2002, she wrote a book entitled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in film in 2003. The role she played was that of an Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her career and there will be many more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka is a native of England and spent a lot of her growing up between London in the UK and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and attended high school there. She began studying music at age 9 and played the sitar to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi four years later. Alongside her father, he toured the world Anoushka racked up a wealth of performances in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings together with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within performing in the Asian Arts.
